Buying a pub isn’t going to be quick, easy or cheap. Here our the rough stages we expect our campaign to take over the next six months, and the key dates to get involved and meet the team:

June

  • Initial committee form
  • Kick off meeting at the Pop Up Pub, Friday 7th June
  • Website, email and social media setup
  • ACV Notification & receipt
  • Resident’s Questionnaire circulated
  • Introductory Meeting with the Parish Council (open section)
  • Be able to accept pledges
  • Outline sketches of the proposal
  • Consulting with trade specialists to help shape headline figures for the business plan

July

  • Detailed costings for the outline proposals
  • Setup of a bank account for campaign costs
  • Village Views advert/entry
  • Mortgage Valuation
  • Polling day information stand, Village Hall, Thu 4th July
  • Pop-up Pub Update, Village Hall, Friday 5th July
  • Draft Business Plan made accessible to potential members
  • Plunkett Foundation Membership

August

  • Stand at Granta Festival, Granta House, Aug 25th
  • Press photoshoot

September

  • Pop-up pub, 6th September 2024
  • Open negotiations with Green King, aim for heads of terms end of the month
  • Appoint a legal representative for conveyancing
  • Formal share prospectus issued, circulate to those pledging to buy shares
  • Re-incorporate as a Community Benefit Society (CBS)

October

  • Collect funds and issue shares

November

  • Apply for initial planning permission
  • Apply for Premises license, trade collections

December

  • Internal refurbishment
  • Re-open the Queens Head!

January

  • Open the letting rooms

February

  • Begin garden ground-works
